After many months of teasing, the headset of the PlayStation VR2 system has finally been unveiled. At a glance, it looks quite similar to the original PS VR, though it has some notable improvements, including the inclusion of a vent.
So what’s the purpose of the vent? Well, air circulation! Thanks to the vent, the lenses won’t fog up as you’re immersed in a VR game. Speaking of which, there’s also a lens adjustment dial now so that players can match the lens distance between their eyes for a more pleasant VR experience.
Aside from that, the PS VR2 headset is also lighter and slightly slimmer than its direct predecessor. This is quite impressive, given that there’s now a built-in motor for the headset’s feedback feature. The lighter design should improve the comfort of the headset as well.
Also unveiled alongside the PS VR2 headset is the final design of the PS VR2 Sense controller. While it looks similar to previously released images of the controller, the colourway is now matched to the headset’s black and white colour scheme.
No release date has been given yet for the PlayStation VR2, though it’s confirmed that game creators have gotten their hands on the development kit. Hopefully, we’ll see the VR system hit store shelves sometime this year.
