Honda Malaysia Sold 53k Cars in 2021 – Maintains Top Spot in Non-National Passenger Car Segment
February 17, 2022 Andrew Cheng

Honda Malaysia finally revealed its sales figure for 2021. With over 53,031 units sold last year, the Japanese carmaker maintains its position as the number one non-national passenger vehicle segment for eight consecutive years – that’s quite the achievement.

Out of that figure, the central region in Peninsular Malaysia contributed the most sales with more than 25,000 units sold. This is followed by the southern and northern regions with 9,800 and 9,100 units sold respectively.

Not surprisingly, the Honda City continues to be Honda Malaysia’s best-selling model, contributing 36% of total sales. Aside from the B-segment model, the HR-V and CR-V SUVs proved to be popular too, taking up 21% and 14% of total sales respectively.

Of course, given the extended (and multiple) COVID-19 lockdowns in Malaysia, it’s no surprise that Honda Malaysia’s sales in 2021 isn’t quite as high as the previous year; in 2020, the carmaker sold 60,469 units. Nonetheless, Honda still managed to maintain its top spot in the non-national passenger vehicle segment in Malaysia.
