Katapat – Wordle in Bahasa Malaysia!
January 24, 2022 Andrew Cheng

Chances are, you’ve heard of Wordle, a simple web-based puzzle word game that got extremely popular in recent times. If you want more Wordle-inspired games, check out Katapat: it’s essentially Wordle in Bahasa Malaysia.

Katapat is a portmanteau of the Bahasa Malaysia words kata (word) and tepat (accurate). Built by Eugene Low, he describes Katapat as a copy of Wordle, though the words are taken from the DBP’s online dictionary.

Just like the original Wordle game, you have six tries to guess a five-letter word in Katapat; a new word is generated every day at 12AM. Every guess must be a valid Bahasa Malaysia word, and if a letter you used is not in the word at all, it will be greyed out.

What if the letter is highlighted in yellow? Well, that means it is in the word, but it’s at the wrong spot. Ideally, what you want is to get a letter highlighted in green: this signifies the correct letter at the right spot. You can give Katapat a try for yourself here. Want the original English version instead? Then Wordle is for you.
