At the launch of the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) also revealed the revised pricing for the regular petrol models. Now locally assembled (CKD), the 1.8G and the higher-end 1.8V variants of the C-segment SUV are slightly more affordable; the former gets a neat upgrade too.
Previously priced at RM124,000, the Corolla Cross 1.8G now goes for RM123,000. Not only is it slightly more affordable, the halogen headlights have also been replaced with LED units. As for the 1.8V, it now costs RM129,000 – a price reduction of RM266. These prices are with 100% sales tax exemption applied (as they are now CKD) until 30 June 2022.
Both variants of the petrol Corolla Cross feature a 1.8L Dual VVT-i engine that outputs 139PS and 172Nm of torque; drive is sent to the front wheels via a CVT with seven virtual speeds. Aside from that, the two models also have leather seats, seven airbags, a 360-degree camera system, a dashcam, and a 9-inch infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Of course, the higher-end Corolla Cross 1.8V has a couple of features that differentiate it from the 1.8G. These include larger 18-inch alloy wheels – the 1.8G gets 17-inch wheels instead – as well as the Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assistance systems. It offers Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Pre-Collision System (PCS), and Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with steering assist.
The Corolla Cross is now available for booking in Malaysia at all Toyota showrooms nationwide. The C-segment SUV is offered in five different shades: Platinum White Pearl – an RM800 option – Red Mica Metallic, Nebula Blue Metallic, Metalstream Metallic, and Graphite Metallic.
