UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has finally revealed the launch date of the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid on its Facebook page. Set to be introduced here next week on 14 January, it will be locally assembled (CKD), and the hybrid SUV is estimated to retail from RM137,000 – this is with sales tax exemption applied until 30 June 2022.
What sets the Corolla Cross Hybrid apart from the standard model is its hybrid powertrain. The electric motor – which outputs 72PS and 163Nm of torque – is paired with a 2ZR-FXE 1.8L four-cylinder petrol engine that does 98PS and 142Nm of torque. This makes for a combined system output of 122PS, with drive sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT.
If you’re worried about the battery longevity of the Corolla Cross Hybrid, you’ll be happy to know that it comes with an eight-year, unlimited mileage warranty. If you want even longer coverage, you can fork out RM2,950 to get two more years of warranty.
In terms of colour options, the Corolla Cross Hybrid is offered in five different shades. There’s Platinum White Pearl – an RM800 option – Red Mica Metallic, Nebula Blue Metallic, Silver Metallic, and Celestite Grey Metallic, which is exclusive to this hybrid model.
If you’re keen to place a booking for the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, you can do so at your nearest Toyota dealership; you can also book for a test drive right here. More details on the hybrid SUV can be found on UMWT’s website, and we’ll find out exactly how much it will be priced at for the Malaysian market next week on 14 January.
