It’s official! Proton just confirmed that the 2022 Proton Saga facelift is launching by the end of this month. The national carmaker revealed this through its April sales report released today.
“The best-selling model in April however was the Proton Saga with 4,579 units sold leading to a year-to-date total of 14,028 units in its final full month of sales before the launch of the 2022 Proton Saga,” the company said in the press release.

Based on leaks, we know that the upcoming Saga facelift is offered in four variants: Standard MT, Standard AT, Premium AT, and the range-topping Premium S AT. Naturally, the latter gets all the bells and whistles, including keyless entry, push start button, semi-leather seats, and side skirts with a front bumper lip.
No changes to the engine of the new Saga is expected, so it will likely soldier on with the same 1.3L four-cylinder engine that outputs 95hp and 120Nm of torque. It should still be mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that’s sourced from Hyundai as well.

Given the new features and creature comforts the 2022 Proton Saga is getting, it’ll be interesting to see how much it will be priced at. For context, the current Saga costs between RM32,400 to RM39,300 with sales tax exemption applied.
