Well, this is quite the news. Bookings for the 2022 Honda HR-V opened just last month on 9 June, and it looks to be a highly anticipated B-segment SUV. Apparently, waiting period for the new HR-V now stands at more than 12 months.
This long waiting period for the new HR-V is detailed in a Honda Malaysia internal memo sighted by the folks over at Paultan.org. The memo informed dealers to “avoid any overpromise and ensure customers receive constant updates on their new vehicle delivery timing.”
Of course, the 12-month waiting period may not apply to those who have placed a booking for the HR-V earlier, though this is only an educated guess on our part. Chances are, many buyers are eager to get the SUV before the resumption of sales tax on 1 July.
With that in mind, it’s also entirely possible that buyers who placed a booking by 30 June may not get the 2022 HR-V with tax-free prices. As announced by the government, all cars booked by that date have to be registered by 31 March 2023 to enjoy sales tax exemption; that’s only six months away.
Nonetheless, we’ll just have to wait for official confirmation from Honda Malaysia. If you’re just thinking of placing a booking for the 2022 Honda HR-V, it’s likely you’ll have to wait over a year to take delivery of the SUV.
