It is now 1 July, which means we’ll see the prices of cars go up quite a bit after the sales tax exemption period is over. The Honda Civic, for one, sees its price increase by up to RM6,300 – that’s quite a sizeable price hike.
Of course, that amount is for the range-topping RS variant of the Civic, which now retails at RM150,700. Compared to its tax-free prices, it is exactly RM6,349.91 more costly. As for the other two variants, the C-segment sedan is RM5,065.36 and RM5,656.64 more expensive for the E and V models respectively.

Of course, existing Civic orders placed by 30 June yesterday are unaffected by the new prices you see in the table above, provided your car is registered by 31 March 2023 next year as announced by the Malaysian government. If you fulfill these criteria, you can still enjoy the tax-free prices.
