Previously only available on Android and Huawei devices, Apple finally approved the new MySejahtera update, which introduces the MySJ Trace feature. Basically, it’s an improved contact tracing feature utilising Bluetooth, and the new MySejahtera update also sees the removal of the check out button in the app.
In order to use MySJ Trace, you’ll have to activate the feature first in MySejahtera. You’ll just have to click on the MySJ Trace box, follow the on-screen instructions, and that’s it. The feature is activated when you see the green Bluetooth icon with the amount of “interactions” detected.

So how does MySJ Trace work? Using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), it can detect other users that have also activated MySJ Trace. If a user is COVID-19 positive, interactions of said user gathered over the past 14 days will be shared with the Ministry of Health (MOH) for contact tracing.
Those who are confirmed to be in close proximity with a COVID-19 positive user from MySJ Trace will receive a push notification from MySejahtera. Thanks to this new feature, the check out button is no longer needed; you won’t have to manually check out every time you leave a premise now.
The new MySejahtera update is now available for download from the Apple App Store. If you have an Android phone, you can get the new update from the Google Play Store or the Huawei AppGallery for Huawei devices.
