The Proton X70 hasn’t received any major changes since the CKD model was launched back in February 2020. Well, come next year, the C-segment SUV may be getting a facelift, thanks to this spy shot of an X70 with some light camouflage.
This one shot of the (possibly) facelifted X70 was taken by yaaaboiii_7 around Tanjung Malim, Perak, and subsequently shared by Careta on Instagram. Only the lower bumper and tailgate were covered, and it’s said that the front end of the SUV had some camouflage too.
Based on previous rumours, the X70’s 1.8L turbocharged engine will be replaced with a 1.5L TGDi three-cylinder mill for the facelift model. Yes, it’s the very same one found under the hood of the Proton X50, which outputs 177PS and 255Nm of torque. Based on this spy shot, we can expect some exterior changes too.
Of course, it’s still too early to tell if the national carmaker will indeed give the Proton X70 a facelift next year. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on any further development regarding the C-segment SUV.
