2022 Honda Civic Now Open for Booking in Malaysia – Launching in Q1 2022
December 14, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Here it is: the all-new 11th generation Honda Civic is now open for booking in Malaysia. The updated C-segment sedan is touted as “the most fun to drive Civic every made,” and it will be launched here sometime in Q1 2022.

So far, only the range-topping Civic RS has been confirmed for the Malaysian market. One of the biggest upgrades to the new 2022 Civic is a retuned 1.5L VTEC turbo engine that now delivers 182PS and 240Nm of torque – that’s 9PS and 20Nm more than the current 10th gen Civic.

Naturally, it is still paired with a CVT gearbox, but it has three drive modes now: ECON, Normal, and Sport.

Aside from that, the new Civic RS also features an enhanced Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance safety systems. What’s new is the Lead Car Departure Notification System, which notifies the driver when the lead car (the car in front) starts moving forward.

Of course, other features in Honda Sensing are still retained in the Civic RS. These include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Low-Speed Follow (LSF), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Auto High Beam (AHB).

Other confirmed specifications of the 2022 Civic RS include 18-inch alloy wheels with a black matte finish, Honda LaneWatch, six airbags, and a new safety feature dubbed Driver Attention Monitor.

Design wise, the exterior of the new Civic is quite a departure from the 10th gen model. The A-pillars have been pushed back 1.96 inches to elongate the hood for a “premium silhouette,” as Honda puts it. Pushing back the A-pillars – and mounting the side mirrors to the door – improve the visibility of the C-segment sedan as well.

At the back of the 2022 Civic, gone are the “ketam” C-shaped taillights of the current Civic FC for a more mature-looking L-shaped LED lighting; the front DRLs has the same L-shaped lighting too. As for the overall silhouette of the new Civic, it’s very reminiscent of its D-segment sibling, the Honda Accord.

The all-new 11th generation Honda Civic is now open for booking in Malaysia; you can head to your nearest Honda dealership to do so. Alternatively, you can also book it online here, or even through the HondaTouch app – you can download it from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

To recap, the new 2022 Civic will be launched in Malaysia sometime in Q1 2022 next year.
