Over 22k 5th-Gen Honda City Sold in Malaysia – Only 5% Were RS Model
December 7, 2021 Andrew Cheng

At the local launch of the Honda City Hatchback, Honda Malaysia revealed that over 22,000 units of the fifth-generation Honda City sedan were sold in Malaysia. Of that amount, the top-of-the-line RS e:HEV hybrid model only make up 5% of total sales.

It’s possible that the City RS’ RM105,950.45 price tag – that’s almost RM20,000 more than the V trim (RM86,561.45), the range-topping petrol model – is one of the key reasons it’s not quite as popular among Malaysians. It was also only made available here five months after the other models were launched locally.

That being said, Honda Malaysia did say that the sales performance of the City RS is within the company’s expectations. On top of that, the carmaker added that feedback from owners of the hybrid model have been positive too.

While not many units of the Honda City RS e:HEV were sold in Malaysia, it seems that those who actually bought the hybrid sedan are quite happy with it. It’ll be interesting to see how the City Hatchback RS will fare here once it is launched locally sometime in early 2022.
