In line with Acer’s commitment to sustainable operations, the Taiwanese company introduced the Acer Aspire Vero here in Malaysia, a laptop made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic. Not only is is touted as a green product, it also looks to be a decent productivity-focused laptop.
Two variants of the Aspire Vero are offered in Malaysia. The base model with an Intel Core i5-1155G7 processor and 8GB of RAM costs RM3,399, while the Core i7-1195G7 configuration with 16GB of RAM goes for RM4,299. Those who purchase either models between 11 to 19 November will also receive freebies worth up to RM497.
Aside from the different processor and RAM capacity, both variants of the Aspire Vero are similar to each other. They have a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS screen – which is said to be 99% recyclable – Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, 512GB of SSD storage, Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021 with a lifetime license, and Windows 11 out of the box.
Beyond what’s under the hood, it’s worth noting that the chassis of the Aspire Vero is composed of 30% PCR plastic, which cuts CO2 emissions by 21% for the production of this particular part. The laptop’s keycaps also contain 50% PCR plastic, and even the 100% recyclable packaging of the laptop can be repurposed as a laptop stand.
To recap, the Acer Aspire Vero will be available for purchase in Malaysia from tomorrow onwards on 11 November. The Core i5 + 8GB RAM model costs RM3,399, while the Core i7 + 16GB RAM configuration is priced at RM4,299.
