If you’re planning to travel between Malaysia and Singapore soon, great news: you won’t be required to be quarantined from 29 November onwards. Instead, all you need to do is to be tested for COVID-19 before entering either countries through the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL).

Of course, there are a couple of caveats to VTL. As the name suggests, only fully vaccinated individuals can take advantage of this quarantine-free entry. On top of that, it is only limited to air travel at the moment between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Changi Airport.

This was announced in a joint statement by the Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong. “Given the significant progress that both countries have made in vaccinating their respective populations and managing the COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Ministers agreed that it is timely to progressively resume cross-border travel between both countries, in a safe manner,” the statement reads.

“The Prime Ministers also look forward to restoring travel across the land links between countries in the near future,” which include the Causeway and Second Link. At the moment, only those who are travelling by air (and fully vaccinated) between Malaysia and Singapore are not required to undergo quarantine from 29 November 2021 onwards.
