Proton Sold 13,362 Units in October 2021 – 3 Models Remain Segment Leaders
November 5, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Proton saw further improvement to its sales in October 2021 last month. With over 13,362 units sold, three of the national carmaker’s models continue to lead their respective segments, including the hugely popular Proton X50, Proton X70, as well as the Proton Exora.

Naturally, the affordable Proton Saga saw the highest number of sales; as many as 5,107 units were delivered to customers last month, though it’s no longer the best-selling A-segment sedan. The X50, on the other hand, saw 3,839 units registered – this is the most number of units delivered in a single month for the B-segment SUV.

As for the X70, 2,165 units of the C-segment SUV were sold last month, followed by the Persona (1,393), Iriz (497), and the best-selling C-segment MPV of last month, the Exora (359). Keep keep in mind that these figures also include exports.

“Proton’s sales in October can be summarized as a story of strong buyer demand and unrealised sales potential. While we are happy with the continued popularity of the Proton Saga and our achievement with the two SUVs, we missed out on adding more units to our final tally as we continue ramping up our supply of components,” said the CEO of Proton Edar, Roslan Abdullah.

“Market demand, however, is expected to remain strong towards the end of year, so we are working diligently towards closing 2021 on a high note,” he added.
