COVID-19 booster shots for those who received the AstraZeneca vaccine will be announced soon by the Ministry of Health (MOH). At the moment, only Pfizer and Sinovac recipients are getting booster shots, starting with frontliners and those who are above 60 years old.
This was announced by Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister of Health, through a Twitter post. He elaborated that AstraZeneca recipients may be offered either Sinovac or the AstraZeneca vaccine itself if they cannot take mRNA vaccine, such as Pfizer.
Of course, you won’t need to apply to get the COVID-19 booster shot. As with other vaccine recipients, you will be notified of any appointment through MySejahtera. Depending on where you’re located, the booster will be given at a clinic or hospital.
There’s no timeline yet as to when AstraZeneca recipients will get their COVID-19 booster shots. Khairy said that a booster is not necessary for individuals to be considered fully vaccinated, but it is highly recommended to take the extra dosage.
