Sony Malaysia just confirmed that its latest flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia Pro-I, will be arriving here in Malaysia sometime in December 2021. If you want a high-end phone with very promising camera performance, the Xperia Pro-I may tickle your fancy.
Sony is not just positioning the Xperia Pro-I as a smartphone: it’s also touted as “an exciting addition to Sony’s camera line-up” by the Japanese company, given that its 12MP primary camera is packed with a 1.0-type Exmor RS sensor. This is similar to the sensor found in Sony’s well-loved RX100 VII camera.
Beyond the impressive 12MP primary shooter, the Xperia Pro-I is…basically based on the Xperia 1 III, though it doesn’t get the variable telephoto lens. Instead, it features a 12MP telephoto lens with a 50mm focal length and a 12MP ultra-wide angle shooter.
Other specifications of the Xperia Pro-I include a sharp and vibrant 120Hz 6.5-inch 4K OLED screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with 12GB of RAM, 512GB of expandable storage, an 8MP selfie camera, a 4,500mAh battery, and an IP65/IP68 rating.
The Sony Xperia Pro-I is expected to arrive in Malaysia sometime in December 2021. Once the flagship phone/camera goes on sale here, expect it to cost a premium. After all, it retails at a steep $1,800 (about RM7,470) in the US.
