It’s no secret that UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) is planning to launch the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid here in Malaysia. While the company still hasn’t revealed any date for the local launch of the C-segment SUV, you can now register your interest for the upcoming model.

The teaser for the Corolla Cross Hybrid leaves little to the imagination; the blue accent on the bottom of the headlight is a clear reference to the hybrid version of the SUV. You can take a look for yourself with an image of the model in question below alongside the teaser.

Of course, what sets the Corolla Cross Hybrid apart from the standard model is its hybrid powertrain. The electric motor – which outputs 72PS and 163Nm of torque – is paired with a 2ZR-FXE 1.8L four-cylinder petrol engine that does 98PS and 142Nm of torque. This makes for a combined system output of 122PS, with drive sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT.

At the moment, the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is only said to be coming soon to Malaysia. But given that the registration of interest for the SUV is already open, we reckon its local launch is happening very soon.
