Aside from the standard Pixel 6, Google also introduced the higher-end Pixel 6 Pro today. Though both phones share quite a bit of hardware – including the same Google Tensor chip – this Pro model does have a number of notable upgrades, including a more sophisticated camera system and a better, faster display.

First, let’s talk about the pricing of the Pixel 6 Pro, which is really one of its main selling points. The base model with 128GB of storage goes for $899 (about RM3,750), while the 256GB variant is priced at $999 (around RM4,165). There’s also a 512GB configuration of the phone, though it’s not available for pre-order yet at the moment.

For that kind of money, the Pixel 6 Pro is powered by the aforementioned Google Tensor chip, which is said to be competitive with the popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. It is also packed with a Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) for AI tasks, enabling faster speech recognition, among other things.

Compared to the Pixel 6, the Pixel 6 Pro features a more sophisticated triple camera system too. It’s made up of a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 48MP periscope telephoto lens that can do 4x optical zoom or up to 20x zoom with the Super Res Zoom feature.

Rounding out the specifications of the Pixel 6 Pro include a 6.7-inch 3120 x 1440 LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, an 11.1MP selfie camera, IP68 water and dust resistance, a generous 5,003mAh battery, and the latest Android 12 out of the box.

The Pixel 6 Pro is currently on pre-order in the US with shipping to begin on 28 October. While there’s very little chance for Google’s latest flagship phone to be officially sold here in Malaysia, we reckon import units of the Pixel 6 Pro will be available locally in due time.
