Apple Unleashes 16-inch MacBook Pro With M1 Pro & M1 Max Chips From RM10,799
October 19, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Enter Apple’s most powerful MacBook yet, the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Just like the 14-inch model, the new laptop is configurable with the Cupertino company’s brand new (and very powerful) M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, along with an equally new design that replaces the Touch Bar with physical keys.

So how much does the new 16-inch MacBook Pro costs? Well, the base model starts at RM10,799, and that’s for the M1 Pro configuration with 16GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD. If you want the range-topping M1 Max chip with 64GB of unified memory and a generous 8TB SSD instead, you’ll have to fork out an eye-watering RM25,199.

For that kind of money, you are getting a very impressive laptop. It has a 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display with ProMotion technology for adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, smaller screen bezels – though with a notch for the 1080p camera – and a more practical selection of ports, including MagSafe 3, HDMI, and an SD card reader.

It’s also worth noting that the 16-inch MacBook Pro is also touted to be the longest-lasting MacBook ever: it offers up to 21 hours of video playback. Much like the 14-inch MacBook Pro, this 16-inch model also offers fast charging, getting up to 50% in only 30 minutes of charging.

Although the Malaysian pricing of the 16-inch MacBook Pro has been revealed, it remains to be seen exactly when it will be available for purchase here. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on the local availability of this powerful new MacBook Pro.
