Honor 50 Appears in SIRIM – Malaysian Launch Imminent?
October 5, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Honor 50, the Chinese company’s latest smartphone, is set to arrive here in Malaysia very soon. Shipped with Google Mobile Services – giving users access to Google’s range of apps and services – the Honor 50 will mark the company’s return to the smartphone business in Malaysia.

In our routine search through SIRIM’s database, we saw that Honor Malaysia registered the Honor 50 with the model number NTH-NX9 just yesterday on 4 October. Since all electronics have to be certified by SIRIM first before they can be officially sold here, there’s a good chance the Honor 50 will be launched locally very soon.

Sporting a premium-looking design, the Honor 50 is a reasonably well-equipped mid-range smartphone. After all, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, which should be able to offer a good level of performance. Aside from that, it also comes with a 120Hz 6.57-inch 1080p OLED display.

Other specifications of the Honor 50 include a quad camera system (108MP primary + 8MP ultra-wide angle + 2MP macro + 2MP depth), a 32MP selfie camera, a 4,300mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging, up to 12GB of RAM, as well as 128GB or 256GB of non-expandable storage.

No word yet on exactly when the Honor 50 will be launched in Malaysia. Given that it has appeared in SIRIM’s database already, we reckon we’ll see the local debut of the phone very soon.
