Xiaomi Confirms Malaysian Availability of Pad 5 Tablet With Snapdragon 860 Chip
September 15, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Initially launched in China last month, the Xiaomi Pad 5 just had its global debut. On top of that, this pretty capable Android tablet is now confirmed to be coming to Malaysia as well in the near future.

It’s worth noting that we’ve spotted the Pad 5 in SIRIM’s database a few weeks ago, so we already suspected then that the tablet would be available here in Malaysia. Of course, it’s great that we now have official confirmation from the company itself on the local availability of the Pad 5.

Anyway, as mentioned, the Pad 5 is quite a capable Android tablet. After all, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 chipset, which is essentially an improved version of the Snapdragon 855. This was the chipmaker’s flagship offering back in 2019.

Aside from that, the Pad 5 also features a sharp 11-inch 2560 x 1600 TrueTone display – it can adjust the screen’s white balance to match ambient lighting – with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. It can be paired with a magnetic stylus and keyboard cover too, just like other notable tablets in the market now.

Other specifications of the Pad 5 include a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie shooter, an 8,720mAh battery, 6GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage.

Though it’s now confirmed that the Xiaomi Pad 5 will be coming to Malaysia soon, no specific timeline was given; there’s no indication of its local pricing either. For the sake of context, the Pad 5 retails from 1,999 Chinese yuan (about RM1,290) in China – that’s quite a competitive price tag.
