Xiaomi Pad 5 Appears in SIRIM Again – Malaysian Launch Imminent?
August 27, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Xiaomi’s latest tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 5, made its debut in China earlier this month. It’s a relatively capable Android tablet, and based on what we’ve gathered, we believe Xiaomi Malaysia will be bringing in the Pad 5 to our shores very soon.

As usual, we were going through SIRIM’s database when we stumbled upon a peculiar device with the model number 21051182G registered under Era International just today. This is confirmed to be the model number of the Pad 5, and it was actually registered with SIRIM by Xiaomi Malaysia itself last month, though the entry has been deleted since.

Anyway, as mentioned, the Pad 5 is quite a capable Android tablet. After all, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 chipset, which is essentially an improved version of the Snapdragon 855. This was the chipmaker’s flagship offering back in 2019.

Aside from that, the Pad 5 also features a sharp 11-inch 2560 x 1600 TrueTone display – it can adjust the screen’s white balance to match ambient lighting – with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. It can be paired with a magnetic stylus and keyboard cover too, just like other notable tablets in the market now.

Other specifications of the Pad 5 include a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie shooter, an 8,720mAh battery, 6GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage.

No word yet from Xiaomi Malaysia on the local availability of the Xiaomi Pad 5, but rest assured, we will keep a close eye on this. It’ll be interesting to see if the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro will also be offered here alongside the standard model.
