Genshin Impact‘s next update is coming on 1 September, and it brings quite a number of new content. Not only are we getting two new Inazuma islands in Version 2.1, we’re also getting four new characters: the Raiden Shogun herself, Sangonomiya Kokomi, Kujou Sara, and even Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy, a crossover character.
Naturally, the Raiden Shogun is a 5-star Electro character wielding a polearm; Mihoyo said she is able to deal “massive damage and provide helpful buffs to the team.” Kokomi, on the other hand – who is also a 5-star character – is a healer with a Hydro Vision, wielding a catalyst.

As for Kujou Sara and Aloy, both of them are Bow users. Sara is a 4-star Electro character, while Aloy is a 5-star Cryo character. As previously revealed, Aloy will be available to PlayStation players first (for free) once Version 2.1 is live. She will then be accessible to every player in Version 2.2 from 13 October to 24 November 2021.
Two new islands will also be added to the Inazuma region in Version 2.1: Watatsumi Island and Seirai Island. The former is the home to the resistance forces, while Seirai is “a place of desolation shrouded in perpetual storms,” as Mihoyo puts it.
Other new content coming to Version 2.1 of Genshin Impact include the final chapter of Inazuma’s Archon Quest – I’m personally looking forward to this – the introduction of a fishing mechanic, as well as new bosses, including the Thunder Manifestation, Hydro Hypostasis, and get this: Signora of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers.

Version 2.1 of Genshin Impact is shaping up be quite a major update, especially with the introduction of so many new playable characters and areas. These new content will be available in the game come 1 September 2021, and the first event wish will feature the Raiden Shogun and Sara – Kokomi’s event wish will be available at a later date.
