The product page for the Keychron Q1 is now live, giving us a look at all possible configurations of the 75% mechanical keyboard. Unfortunately, the product page also shows that the price of the barebone kit has been increased from $139 to $149 – that comes up to about RM630.
With this change in price for the barebone kit, the value proposition of the fully assembled Q1 is quite a bit better. After all, for only $20 more (approximately RM85), you get Gateron Phantom switches of your choice, along with a set of double-shot ABS keycaps.
According to the product listing, those who pre-order the Q1 will also get a “premium” coiled USB-C cable. Looking at an example of the sleeved cable, it does look rather good; it even has an aviator connector. It is by no means as premium as other custom coiled cables, but it’s still great that Keychron is giving a cable of this quality with the Q1.
To recap, the Q1 is a feature-packed 75% keyboard. It features gasket mounting system, a full CNC aluminium case, an aluminium plate, a hotswap PCB with south-facing LEDs, and support for screw-in stabilisers. It’s worth noting that these features are typically only found on enthusiast-level keyboards.
The Keychron Q1 will be available for pre-order on 24 August right here at 9PM for us here in Malaysia. Shipping for the fully assembled model will begin a week after pre-orders are open, and it is expected to be completed by 15 September.
As for the barebone kit of the Q1, it will start shipping to customers between 15 to 30 September 2021.
