The New Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Series Can Measure Your Body Composition
August 11, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Aside from the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 foldable smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series made its debut too. Made up of the standard Galaxy Watch 4 and the larger Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, the biggest new feature of these two smartwatches is the ability to measure a user’s body composition.

That’s right, the Galaxy Watch 4 series can measure your body composition. Using the new Samsung BioActive Sensor on the back of the smartwatch, this wearable can give you vital details like skeletal muscle, fat mass, body fat, BMI, and even your body water. Samsung even said that these measurements are up to 98% accurate.

Sleep tracking capability of the Watch 4 has been improved as well. Not only can it track your blood oxygen level – a very important feature in this COVID-19 pandemic, in our opinion – it even has…snoring detection. Anyway, using these data, the watch can then give you a sleep score.

Other specifications of the Galaxy Watch 4 series include a new Exynos W920 5nm processor that promises up to 20% faster CPU, a 1.19-inch or 1.36-inch circular display – depending on which size of the smartwatch you get – 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, as well as a 361mAh or 247mAh battery – again, dependent on the size of the watch.

Of course, the Watch 4 series also runs on Samsung’s new One UI Watch operating system, which allows you to install wearable apps from the Google Play Store.

For the US market, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 retails from $249 (about RM1,055), while the bigger Galaxy Watch 4 Classic starts at $349 (approximately RM1,480).
