2022 Proton Persona Launched – More Premium Looks From RM45,200
August 5, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Aside from the 2022 Proton Iriz, the national carmaker also unveiled the facelifted 2022 Proton Persona. With a more premium exterior and interior, the updated B-segment sedan is certainly a more accomplished product now. Of course, this also means it is slightly more costly than the previous model.

Three variants of the 2022 Persona are offered. The 1.6 Standard goes for RM45,200, while the 1.6 Executive costs RM50,100. The range-topping 1.6 Premium, on the other hand, is priced at RM54,900.

These prices are with sales tax exemption applied, which is valid until 31 December 2021. Without the exemption, the Standard, Executive, and Premium models will cost RM600, RM700, and RM900 more respectively.

Just like the updated Iriz, the facelifted Persona features a similar-looking Infinite Weave grille along with Proton’s new logo. But instead of a red accent, the Persona’s grille has a chrome finish for a more mature-looking design.

The Premium model also gets LED headlights – it’s the only one to get this – as well as new 16-inch alloy wheels with a different design than the Executive’s wheels of the same size. The standard, on the other hand, only gets 15-inch alloys.

On the inside, the 2022 Persona’s interior gets a more premium touch too, especially the Premium trim with its brown leather seats; it is said to be the same shade as the Proton X70’s nappa leather seats. Of course, there’s also the new 8-inch floating infotainment screen with the updated “Hi Proton” voice command and digital air-conditioning controls.

No changes to the engine of the new Persona, though the manual transmission is no longer offered. Powering all three variants of the sedan is a 1.6L engine that outputs 109PS and 150Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The 2022 Persona facelift is now available for booking online. Here are the prices of the sedan again: the Standard costs RM45,200, while the Executive and Premium models go for RM50,100 and RM54,900 respectively. These prices are valid until 31 December 2021, unless the sales tax exemption is extended again.
