Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone, the Huawei P50 Pro, has just been launched in China. Sporting a quad camera system that can do 100x zoom along with a fast 120Hz OLED screen, it’s quite a sleek-looking device too, though it doesn’t come with 5G connectivity.

That’s right, despite sporting either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or Kirin 9000 chipset, the P50 Pro does not support 5G networks. Of course, for markets where 5G connectivity is not widespread yet – such as Malaysia – it’s not a big deal, though it’s definitely an omission worth pointing out.

Aside from that, the P50 Pro also features a rather sophisticated quad camera system. It’s made up of a 50MP primary shooter, a 40MP monochrome sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens, and of course, a 64MP telephoto camera that can do up to 100x digital zoom.

Other specifications of the P50 Pro include a 6.6-inch Full HD+ OLED dual-curve screen with a fast 120Hz refresh rate, a 13MP selfie camera, 8GB or 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of internal storage, a 4,360mAh battery, an IP68 rating, and HarmonyOS 2 (still based on Android) out of the box.

In China, the Huawei P50 Pro retails from 5,988 Chinese yuan (about RM3,930) to 8,488 yuan (approximately RM5,570). It remains to be seen if the flagship phone will be available in other markets.
