Astro just introduced the new Ultra Plug & Play Box. Just as its name suggests, it gives you access to Astro’s services without the need for satellite installation – it has all of the features you’ve come to expect from Astro too.

Instead of relying on a satellite dish, the new Ultra Plug & Play Box is an IPTV service; you’re basically streaming your shows through the internet. That’s right, you won’t have to worry about interruption to your Astro service when it rains now, though you do need an internet connection that’s fast enough.

In terms of pricing, the Ultra Plug & Play Box costs the same as other Astro packages. In fact, it’s actually cheaper as there’s no installation fee, but there is an activation fee, which ranges from RM39 to RM59 for new customers.

If you’re an existing customer, the activation fee for the Ultra Plug & Play Box is waived if your current package is above RM100. If it’s below that, the activation fee is RM49. Either way, these costs are still lower than actually having to install the satellite dish.
