Even though the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) was unveiled just last week, a number of Malaysian retailers are already accepting bookings for the new console. Given that the updated Switch will only hit store shelves on 8 October, these bookings are definitely open quite early.
With that in mind, only place a booking for the OLED Switch with trustworthy retailers, such as the ones highlighted in this article. These include Impulse Gaming, Otakuya, and Jiro Game – all of them are renowned local retailers. A RM100 booking fee is required to secure your order from these stores.
Unfortunately, only the Neon Red/Neon Blue model is available for booking right now; the White model seems to have sold out. Anyway, compared to its predecessor, the new OLED Switch features a larger 7-inch OLED panel with thinner bezels. Aside from that, it has double the internal storage too at 64GB.
The stand of the OLED Switch sees a design revision as well. Instead of the original Switch’s fragile-looking stand, this new Switch uses a much sturdier, wider stand that is also adjustable. This makes it easier to find for the right angle when the Switch is in tabletop mode.
Other changes introduced in the new OLED Switch include a new dock with a wired LAN port, “enhanced audio” from the system’s onboard speakers, and between 4.5 to 9 hours of battery life – the same quoted battery life as its predecessor.
If you want to be one of the first in Malaysia to get the new Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) once it’s available on 8 October, you can place your booking for the new console with the retailers listed above. Do note that local pricing has not been revealed yet, but for context, the new Switch costs $350 in the US – that’s about RM1,465.
