Sony Malaysia previous told us that its latest flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia 1 III, will be sold here in July this month. Well, the phone has now been listed on Sony Malaysia’s website along with its local pricing.
Given its positioning as a premium, high-end smartphone, it’s no surprise that the Xperia 1 III retails at a whopping RM5,799 in Malaysia. For that kind of money, you’re getting 256GB of expandable storage and 12GB of RAM.
One of the main highlights of the Xperia 1 III is its “variable telephoto lens” system that allows the 12MP telephoto sensor of the to change its focal length between 70mm to 105mm. The system is also paired with a “Dual PD sensor,” which promises fast autofocus speeds, even when switching between different focal lengths.
Complementing the telephoto lens of the Xperia 1 III is a 12MP primary sensor, along with a 12MP ultra-wide angle shooter. Other specifications of the flagship phone include a sharp and vibrant 120Hz 6.5-inch 4K OLED screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, an 8MP selfie camera, a 4,500mAh battery, IP65/IP68 rating, and Android 11 out of the box.
Even though the Malaysian pricing of the Sony Xperia 1 III has been revealed already, we haven’t heard yet from Sony Malaysia on exactly when it will be sold here. Rest assured, we’ll keep a close eye on the local availability of the high-end phone.
