Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) Announced – Bigger OLED Screen, Bigger Price Tag
July 6, 2021 Andrew Cheng

This is the new Nintendo Switch (OLED Model). As its name suggests, this updated Switch features a larger OLED screen, along with a number of other changes, such as a higher price tag.

Unlike its predecessor, which had a 6.2-inch LCD screen, the OLED Switch features a larger 7-inch OLED panel with thinner bezels. As a result, it is also slightly larger and heavier than the previous Switch. On top of that, it has twice the amount of internal storage (64GB) now too.

The stand of the OLED Switch sees a design revision as well. Instead of the original Switch’s fragile-looking stand, this new Switch uses a much sturdier, wider stand that is also adjustable. This makes it easier to find for the right angle when the Switch is in tabletop mode.

Other changes introduced in the new OLED Switch include a new dock with a wired LAN port, “enhanced audio” from the system’s onboard speakers, and between 4.5 to 9 hours of battery life – the same quoted battery life as its predecessor.

Two colours of the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) are available: this new white model with a matching dock, and the usual neon red/neon blue colourway with a black dock. The updated Switch will be available on 8 October for $350 (about RM1,455), making it $50 more expensive than its direct predecessor.
