Insomniac Games just released a new update for the PlayStation 5 exclusive Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Aside from various bug fixes, the highlight of the update has to be the 120Hz mode, which…enables 40fps gameplay?
You read that right. Basically, compatible TVs that can run at 120Hz will benefit from this new update. When the graphics mode is set to Fidelity – which focuses on delivering the best-looking graphics at 4K resolution with ray-tracing and enhanced lighting – the game will now run at 40fps instead of 30fps.
While that may not sound much, it’s effectively a 33% boost in frame rate. According to Insomniac Games, the new 120Hz mode also reduces input latency when using a compatible display. If 40fps is still not quite good enough for you, opt for the other two Performance modes, which run at 60fps but with reduced graphics fidelity.
The Version 1.002 update for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is now available for download. If you’d like to learn more about the exclusive PS5 title, check out our review of the game.
