May 20, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Xiaomi just introduced two new affordable smartphones for the Malaysian market: the Redmi Note 10 5G and Redmi Note 10S. Retailing from only RM799, these are ideal mid-rangers for those on a tight budget.

Out of the two phones, the Redmi Note 10 5G is the more affordable option. Offered in a single 128GB variant with 8GB of RAM, it costs only RM799. For that kind of money, you’re getting 5G connectivity thanks to the phone’s MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, along with a 90Hz 6.5-inch Full HD screen.

Other specifications of the Redmi Note 10 5G include a triple camera system (48MP primary + 2MP macro + 2MP depth), an 8MP selfie camera, as well as a large 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

As for the Redmi Note 10S, it costs slightly more at RM899 (128GB + 8GB), though you do get a more feature-packed phone. It’s packing a more vibrant 6.43-inch 1080p AMOLED screen (even though it’s locked at 60Hz), and it is also powered by a MediaTek Helio G95 processor.

Rounding out the specifications of the Redmi Note 10S are a quad camera setup (64MP primary + 8MP ultra-wide angle + 2MP macro + 2MP depth), a 13MP front camera, and a generous 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

The Redmi Note 10S will go on sale in Malaysia on 21 May tomorrow, while the Redmi Note 10 5G will be available slightly later on 28 May. Both phones will be sold on Shopee, Lazada, as well as other physical retailers nationwide.
