If you’re a full-time student or between the age of 18 to 20, you can claim RM150 worth of credit from four ewallet services in Malaysia starting 1 June 2021. This is a part of the government’s eBelia initiative, a financial aid for youths and students.
In order to claim the RM150 credit, you have to be between the age of 18 to 20 (born from 2001 to 2003). You are also eligible if you’re a full-time student undertaking a “diploma or SKM4 (and above) in a public or private institution of higher learning in Malaysia recognised by the ministries.”
If you meet either one of the two aforementioned criteria, you can claim the RM150 credit from one of these four ewallet services: ShopeePay, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, BigPay, or Boost. The method of claiming the eBelia credit will depend on each of the ewallet services.
To sweeten the deal, these ewallet services will also offer additional incentives in the form of cashback, voucher, or points on top of the RM150 credit. Of course, the benefits will be different from one ewallet to another. In retrospect, this is very similar to the government’s previous initiative to promote cashless payments.
To recap, youths and students can claim for the RM150 credit from 1 June until 22 July; do note that all of the credit has to be spent by 31 July 2021. More information on the eBelia initiative can be found over here.
