Avoid These (Potential) COVID-19 Hotspots Highlighted by HIDE
May 8, 2021 Andrew Cheng

The Malaysian government just released its first HIDE list, which stands for Hotspot Identification For Dynamic Engagement System. Basically, HIDE uses big data and AI to predict MySejahtera premises that are at risk of becoming COVID-19 hotspots within a seven-day period.

Published on a daily basis, the HIDE list is meant to “empower the public to make informed decisions on their movement and conduct,” as the Ministry of Health (MOH) puts it. Of course, it’s best to avoid the premises listed in HIDE to minimise risk of COVID-19 infection.

The full HIDE list for 8 May can be found below.

Now, do note that these premises are not COVID-19 hotspots. Rather, they are potential cluster locations that are at risk of materialising if no corrective actions are taken. That being said, MOH does encourage everyone who have visited any of the premises in the list within seven days after they are flagged by HIDE to self-quarantine.
