Apple Introduces New (Very Colourful) iMac With M1 Chip – Malaysian Pricing Starts at RM5,599
April 21, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Apple just unveiled the all-new all-in-one iMac, and it is very, very colourful. In fact, it’s available in seven different colours, and just like other recently unveiled Macs, the new iMac is sporting Apple’s very own M1 chip, promising better performance than its predecessor in a thinner package.

According to Apple, the M1 chip powering the new iMac provides up to 85% faster performance than the previous model – that’s quite a big performance gain. What’s even more impressive is the fact that the whole design of the AIO is thinner than ever now. This is exemplified in the slim side profile of the new iMac.

As for the screen itself, the updated iMac now features a 24-inch 4.5k Retina Display with True Tone support. The slim bezels surrounding the display also give the machine a rather sleek aesthetic. That being said, it does have a rather large “chin” under the screen, which slightly detracts from an otherwise very modern-looking AIO.

Of course, the new iMac also gets colour-matched mouse and keyboard, not to mention a magnetic power connector – also colour-matched, naturally. It has a 1080p camera now too with improved mics for a better video call experience. To top it all off, Apple also said that the new iMac is quieter and will run cooler than its predecessor.

Malaysian availability of the new iMac has not been revealed yet, though we do know its local pricing already. The base model with a 7-core GPU, 256GB of SSD storage, and 8GB of RAM retails at RM5,599. A tier up is the RM6,449 variant, which gets an 8-core GPU. If you need more storage space, you can upgrade the storage to 512GB (with the same 8-core GPU) for a cool RM7,249.
