Aside from the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III flagship smartphones, Sony Malaysia also revealed the local availability of its mid-range offering, the Sony Xperia 10 III. Set to arrive here sometime in August 2021, the Xperia 10 III is a water-resistant mid-ranger with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset.
Compared to its predecessor‘s Snapdragon 665 chipset, the Xperia 10 III’s Snapdragon 690 chipset should be quite a bit faster and more power-efficient. After all, it’s built on an 8nm process instead of the Snapdragon 665’s 11nm process, which should translate to better battery life.
Speaking of which, the Xperia 10 III features a larger battery capacity than its predecessor as well. Packed with a 4,500mAh battery – compared to the previous model’s 3,600mAh cell – you should be able to get very good battery life. It’s worth noting that despite only packing a 3,600mAh battery, last year’s Xperia 10 II can still deliver very respectable battery life.
Other specifications of the Xperia 10 III include a compact 6-inch 2520 x 1080 OLED screen with a tall 21:9 aspect ratio – unfortunately, it’s still locked at 60Hz – a triple camera system (12MP f/1.8 primary + 8MP f/2.4 telephoto + 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle), an 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and an IP65/IP68 rating.
The Sony Xperia 10 III is set to arrive in Malaysia sometime in August 2021. Its local pricing has not been revealed yet, but there’s a good chance it will be priced close to its predecessor, which retailed at RM1,799.
