It’s official: Kia Motors and Bermaz Auto (BAuto) have formed a partnership in Malaysia. As a result of this partnership, Kia Malaysia Sdn Bhd (KMSB) will be formed for the local assembly (CKD) of Kia cars here in Malaysia, which include three models at the moment.
Out of the three models, only the Kia Seltos and Kia Carnival have been confirmed for local assembly on our shores. The third model, on the other hand, will only be determined at a later stage. Interestingly, KMSB is set to be the manufacturing hub for Kia models in ASEAN countries and other potential markets.
Aside from that, BAuto’s subsidiary, Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd (DJMSB), will be the new distributor of Kia vehicles in Malaysia. Dinamikjaya Motors will be responsible for the distribution and sale of Kia vehicles in Malaysia, whether it’s CKD or fully imported (CBU) models. On top of that, aftersales service will be handled by the company as well.
Now that Dinamikjaya Motors is the new distributor of Kia vehicles in Malaysia, it is requesting existing owners to update their information with the company. By doing so, Dinamikjaya will be able to check a customer’s warranty status, recall notification, and improve the ownership experience. If you’re a Kia owner, you can update your information right here.
With the new partnership between Kia and BAuto, the local brand presence of the Korean carmaker should be even better now. Personally, we’re looking forward to the CKD version of the Seltos – lowering the price of the B-segment SUV could make it more appealing to Malaysians.
