Genshin Impact Arriving on PlayStation 5 in Spring 2021 With 4K & DualSense Support
April 1, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Mihoyo just announced that the PlayStation 5 version of its hit game Genshin Impact will be released soon. At the moment, the game is available on the next generation console via backward compatibility with the PS4 version, so once the proper PS5 version is released, it will come with a number of improvements.

The biggest improvement with the PS5 version of Genshin Impact is definitely support for 4K resolution. Of course, given that the PS5 has a very fast SSD, players can expect faster loading times as well. Long loading times is one of the biggest issues with the current PS4 version, so this is a welcomed improvement.

According to PlayStation, DualSense support will (naturally) be added too, though it remains to be seen how extensively Mihoyo will implement the controller’s various features. It’ll be great if the PS5 version of Genshin Impact will make use of the DualSense’s adaptive triggers and refined haptic feedback.

Although Mihoyo only mentioned that Genshin Impact will arrive on the PS5 soon, PlayStation gave a more specific spring 2021 release timeframe. That’s still quite vague, of course, though it’s safe to assume it will be released – at the latest – sometime in June 2021.

Genshin Impact is currently available on various platforms, including PC, iOS, Android, and of course, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 (through backward compatibility). If you’d like to learn more about the game, check out our other coverage of Genshin Impact, including a long-term review.
