Proton Persona & Exora Black Edition Official – Only 500 Units, From RM54,700
February 18, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Aside from the Proton Saga R3 and Iriz R3, the national carmaker also introduced two other special edition models: the Proton Persona Black Edition and Exora Black Edition. As the name suggests, these two limited edition models are painted in black with some other minor changes here and there.

Let’s start with the Persona Black Edition. Unlike the bright black and yellow colour scheme of the R3-branded Saga and Iriz, this special edition Persona features a more subdued black and dark gold design that extends to the lower bumper, side skirts, and even the 15-inch alloy wheels. Looking at the overall aesthetics of the B-segment sedan, it does look more mature than the sportier appeal of the R3-stylised models.

The interior of the Persona Black Edition has the same black and gold finishes as well. Dark gold accents can be found on the centre console, air-conditioning vents, and even on the stitching of the leatherette seats. This Persona also features a black headliner and dashboard to further emphasise the black colour scheme of the car.

Since the Persona Black Edition is based on the range-topping Premium variant of the regular model, it is still powered by the same engine and transmission. Under the hood of this sedan is a 1.6L engine that produces 107PS and 150Nm of torque, with drive sent to the front wheels via the very same Punch CVT.

As for the Exora Black Edition, same story here. It is finished in the same black and gold colour scheme on the exterior and interior, and Proton is bringing back the rear overhead monitor for this MPV. Mechanically, this special edition Exora soldiers on with the same 1.6L turbocharged engine that offers 140PS and 205Nm of torque paired with a CVT gearbox.

Both the Proton Persona Black Edition and Exora Black Edition are limited to 500 units each, so without a doubt you’d have to be fast if you want to own either one of these two limited edition models. The Persona retails at RM55,600, while the Exora costs RM 69,800.

But thanks to the extended sales tax exemption for CKD and CBU cars, you can get the Persona Black Edition and Exora Black Edition at RM54,700 and RM67,800 respectively. These prices are only valid until 30 June 2021, but given that there are only 500 units up for grabs each, we reckon these two special edition models will sell out way before that date.
