Own a Proton Perdana? Replace the Faulty Takata Airbags
August 25, 2020 Andrew Cheng

Proton Perdana owners, take note: if your model is built from 2012 to the end of August 2018, you’ll need to get the (potentially faulty) passenger airbag inflator replaced. This recall is part of a global initiative for cars equipped with Takata airbags.

Of course, this is not the first time Proton made this announcement: the recall was actually issued back in January last year. However, there are still some Perdana owners that have not gotten the airbags replaced. According to Proton, it has replaced 5,625 of 6,342 units affected so far; that’s a completion rate of 87.5%.

The national carmaker managed to contact these owners of the Perdana, but the company added that it has “not been able to connect with all affected owners due to obsolete or incomplete contact information.” With that in mind, Proton is urging owners of the Perdana to get in touch with the carmaker if they haven’t already done so.

If you want to get the airbags of your Perdana replaced, you can arrange for an appointment with Proton’s service centres. The replacement will be performed free of charge, naturally, and Proton says that it will take approximately one hour.
