Microsoft Surface Duo Specs & Price Revealed: Dual Screen Android Phone for $1,399
August 13, 2020 Andrew Cheng

Initially unveiled in October last year, the Microsoft Surface Duo’s full specifications have finally been revealed. On top of that, the unique, dual screen Android smartphone is also available for pre-order in the US now, and as expected, it’s quite a costly device.

In the States, the Surface Duo carries a steep $1,399 price tag, which comes up to about RM5,860. For that kind of money, you’re getting 128GB of internal storage; the more generous 256GB variant demands an additional $100 (about RM420). Needless to say, the Duo is not an affordable smartphone.

But given the unique appeal of the Surface Duo, the hefty asking price is not exactly a surprise. For one, this Android smartphone has two 5.6-inch 1800 x 1350 AMOLED displays. When connected together, they form a single 8.1-inch 2700 x 1800 panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio. This unique dual screen setup will definitely come in handy for users that need it, especially for productivity work.

Besides the two AMOLED screens, other specifications of the Surface Duo are akin to that of a 2019 flagship smartphone. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM, a single 11MP f/2.0 camera – it serves as the rear and front-facing camera – a 3,577mAh battery, and Microsoft Surface Duo UI based on Android 10 out of the box.

The Microsoft Surface Duo is now available for pre-order in the US; it will start shipping on 10 September. Naturally, there’s no word yet on the Malaysian availability of the Duo.
