Redmi K30 Ultra Unveiled With MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ Chip & 120Hz Screen for RM1,200
August 12, 2020 Andrew Cheng

Aside from the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, the Redmi K30 Ultra was also introduced in China. Although it’s not quite as high-end as the former, the new K30 Ultra does come with a number of interesting features. These include a fast 120Hz screen, along with a new processor: the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+.

Compared to other flagship-tier chipsets in the market now, the Dimensity 1000+ is a reasonably capable SoC with support for 5G networks. While it’s not quite as fast as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, you can still expect to get a very good level of performance with the Dimensity 1000+. After all, it’s MediaTek’s best chip to date.

Besides that, the K30 Ultra also comes with a fast 120Hz panel now with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It’s a marked improvement over the K30 Pro‘s screen, which only had a 60Hz refresh rate with a 180Hz touch sampling rate. Beyond the faster and more responsive display, the K30 Ultra still features a 6.67-inch 2400 x 1080 AMOLED panel.

In fact, other aspects of the K30 Ultra are almost identical to the K30 Pro. It has the same quad camera system (64MP main + 13MP ultra-wide angle + 5M telemacro + 2MP depth), a 20MP pop-up front-facing camera, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of internal storage, as well as an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

That being said, it’s worth noting that the K30 Ultra comes with a slightly smaller 4,500mAh battery; the K30 Pro had a bigger 4,700mAh cell.

The Redmi K30 Ultra will go on sale in China from 14 August onwards. With a 1,999 Chinese yuan starting price – that comes up to about RM1,205 – it’s definitely an affordable smartphone. Here’s hoping the K30 Ultra will be made available in Malaysia as well.
