The Oppo Reno 4 series has just been launched here in Malaysia, and it’s made up of two devices: the standard Reno 4, and the Reno 4 Pro. With a RM1,699 starting price, these two mid-range devices are not exactly affordable, but you do get a number of interesting features, including support for fast 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging.
First, let’s get the pricing of the two phones out of the way first. The regular Reno 4 – which has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage – retails at RM1,699, while the more feature-packed Reno 4 Pro goes for RM2,399. Given the higher asking price of the Pro model, it does come with twice the amount of storage at 256GB, though it’s still packed with 8GB of RAM.
Compared to the standard model, the Reno 4 Pro does come with a number of upgrades that can justify the added cost. For one, it supports Oppo’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging technology. According to the Chinese company, this allows the phone’s 4,000mAh battery to be fully charged in only 36 minutes; that’s quite impressive. As for the standard Reno 4, it features a slightly bigger 4,015mAh cell with 30W fast charging.
Aside from that, the Reno 4 Pro also sports a faster 6.55-inch 1080p AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The regular Reno 4, on the other hand, is equipped with a more conventional 6.43-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. Regardless of which device you go for, there’s a fingerprint sensor underneath the screen.
The Oppo Reno 4
Beyond these differences, both the Reno 4 and Reno 4 Pro are powered by the same chipset: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC. It’s not the fastest processor in the market – and you’d expect to get a more powerful chip at this price point – but it should still be able to offer a reasonably good level of performance for a pleasant user experience.
In the camera department, these two mid-range smartphones have a similar quad camera system made up of a 48MP f/1.7 primary shooter, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle sensor, a 2MP f/2.4 macro lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 monochrome camera. On the front, both devices come with a 32MP f/2.4 selfie camera.
The Oppo Reno 4 and Reno 4 Pro are now available for pre-order in Malaysia until 7 August. To recap, the standard model goes for RM1,699, while the Reno 4 Pro costs RM2,399. They will hit store shelves from 8 August onwards.
