Realme just launched its first-ever 5G smartphone in Malaysia, the Realme X50 Pro 5G. What makes this device particularly interesting is the sheer value for money it offers, but for the Malaysian market, that’s not quite the case. On our shores, the X50 Pro goes for RM2,999.
While that doesn’t make the X50 Pro a particularly costly flagship smartphone, it’s certainly higher than expected. That’s because Realme isn’t introducing more affordable variants of the X50 Pro here: only the range-topping 256GB model with 12GB of RAM is offered locally. In other markets, the phone can be purchased with only 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, which is a lot more affordable.
Nonetheless, for RM2,999, the Realme X50 Pro does offer a number of neat hardware. Naturally, it’s powered by Qualcomm’s best chipset yet, the Snapdragon 865. Not only does it offer 5G connectivity, it also provides an excellent level of performance. Rest assured, this is a fast smartphone that will be able to meet any user’s demand.
Speaking of fast, the Realme X50 Pro features a 6.44-inch 2400 x 1080 Super AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. Yes, not quite as impressive as other flagship smartphones’ faster 120Hz displays, but it’s still much better than a conventional 60Hz panel. Plus, the 90Hz refresh rate is good enough to provide smooth animations.
Under the screen of the phone, there’s also an optical fingerprint sensor.
Of course, as a flagship smartphone, the X50 Pro features a rather elaborate quad camera system. It’s made up of a 64MP f/1.8 primary sensor, an 8MP f/2.3 ultra-wide angle shooter, a 12MP f/2.5 telephoto lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 monochrome portrait camera. Collectively, this allows the phone to do “20x hybrid zoom.” Besides that, this phone also has two selfie cameras: a 32MP f/2.5 primary sensor paired with an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle shooter.
Another interesting feature of the X50 Pro is its reasonably big 4,200mAh dual-cell battery. But the capacity is not the highlight here: it’s the charging rate. According to Realme, the 4,200mAh cell can be fully charged in only 35 minutes, thanks to the company’s 65W “SuperDart” fast charging technology.
The Realme X50 Pro 5G will be available for purchase from tomorrow onwards (7 July) for RM2,999 on Lazada; retail stores will carry the flagship smartphone from 11 July onwards. Two colours are offered: Moss Green and Rust Red.
