We spotted the Realme X50 Pro 5G in SIRIM’s database two months ago, which suggests that the Chinese company is gearing up to launch the flagship smartphone in Malaysia. Well, Realme just confirmed that the X50 Pro will be launched here next week on 6 July.
As is the case with many launch events now – because of the COVID-19 pandemic – the X50 Pro will be launched virtually via live stream on Realme’s Facebook page. It’s quite an exciting smartphone, given that it is the first 5G smartphone from Realme.
On top of that, the X50 Pro is a high-end device as well. Powering this device is none other than Qualcomm’s best chipset yet, the Snapdragon 865. Not only does it give the phone 5G connectivity, it also provides flagship-tier performance. Whether you’re multitasking or gaming on this phone, it will be able to deliver.
Speaking of gaming, the X50 Pro features a pretty fast display as well: it has a 6.44-inch 2400 x 1080 Super AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. While that’s not quite as impressive as other flagship smartphones with faster 120Hz panels, it will be good enough to provide smooth animations. Plus, it won’t be quite as power-hungry as 120Hz screens either.
In terms of battery life, the X50 Pro comes with a reasonably generous 4,200mAh dual-cell battery. This cell capacity should be able to provide a day’s worth of use, and when you need to charge it up, the phone supports Realme’s 65W “SuperDart” fast charging. According to the company, this allows the phone to be fully charged in only 35 minutes.
As a flagship smartphone, the X50 Pro is naturally equipped with a rather sophisticated quad camera system. It’s made up of a 64MP f/1.8 primary sensor, an 8MP f/2.3 ultra-wide angle shooter, a 12MP f/2.5 telephoto lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 monochrome portrait camera. Realme also highlights the fact that this camera configuration allows the phone to do “20x hybrid zoom.”
Rounding out the specifications of the X50 pro are two selfie cameras (32MP f/2.5 primary + 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle), up to 12GB of RAM, two storage options (128GB and 256GB), an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and Realme UI based on Android 10 out of the box.
The Realme X50 Pro 5G will be launched in Malaysia via an online live stream on Realme’s Facebook page; it’s set to take place at 11AM on 6 July next week. It’ll be quite exciting to see how much the phone will cost here. For the sake of comparison, the X50 Pro retails from 37,999 Indian rupee in India, which comes up to about RM2,155.
