Lenovo ThinkPad E14 & E15 With AMD Ryzen 4000 CPU Now in Malaysia; Starts at RM3,449
June 24, 2020 Andrew Cheng

Lenovo just introduced two new entry-level ThinkPad laptops in Malaysia, the Lenovo ThinkPad E14 and ThinkPad E15. What makes them particularly interesting is the fact that both of them are powered by AMD’s excellent Ryzen 4000 series processors, and they’re pretty thin and light laptops as well.

Let’s start with the ThinkPad E14. As its name suggests, this business laptop features a 14-inch 1920 x 1080 TN or IPS display with a maximum brightness of 250 nits; 220 nits for the TN panel. Not particularly bright, but should be good enough for indoor use. It also has a matte finish to minimise glare.

But the most exciting hardware of the ThinkPad E14 has to be the processor under the hood, which is either a Ryzen 5 4500U or Ryzen 7 4700U chip. Fabricated on a 7nm process, these two processors are much more power-efficient than its competition. In fact, Lenovo claims that the E14’s 45WHr battery can return up to 13 hours of use on a single charge.

As mentioned, the ThinkPad E14 is also a relatively slim, lightweight laptop. Its starting weight is only 1.59kg, and the chassis measures 17.9mm thin. Other specifications of the E14 include integrated AMD Radeon graphics, up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage, as well as a 720p webcam with Lenovo’s ThinkShutter physical cover.

Next up is the ThinkPad E15. For the most part, it has the same hardware as the E14, but it has a bigger 15.6-inch 1080p TN or IPS display with the same peak brightness of 250 nits for the IPS panel. The TN option, as expected, is dimmer at 220 nits.

Choice of processor for the ThinkPad E15 is the same as the E14, as are the RAM, SSD, and battery capacities. The fact that the E15 has the same 45WHr battery as the E14 is quite odd, given that it is a bigger laptop. Nonetheless, it’s said to be able to offer up to 12.7 hours of battery life.

Naturally, given its larger dimensions, the ThinkPad E15 is slightly heavier and thicker than the E14, but not by much. It weighs from 1.7kg, and it has a 18.9mm chassis.

Those who are interested to purchase the Lenovo ThinkPad E14 and ThinkPad E15 in Malaysia can contact SNS Network for a quotation, given that these laptops are customisable. According to Lenovo, the ThinkPad E15 retails from RM3,449, while the ThinkPad E14 starts at RM3,499 on our shores.
