Perodua Reduces Car Prices by 3% to 6%, Effective Immediately
June 10, 2020 Andrew Cheng

In line with the government’s Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA), which offers 100% sales tax exemption on locally assembled (CKD) cars, Perodua just announced price cuts for its entire lineup of vehicles. These include the popular Myvi, Axia, Bezza, Alza, and Aruz.

Of course, the amount of discount will be different for each model. Perodua itself has not revealed the new prices yet, but the folks over at Paultan managed to get their hands on the revised pricing structure. According to the site, the Axia is discounted between RM723 to RM1,763, depending on the trim level.

With this new price revision, the Axia now starts at only RM23,367.

Next is the Bezza, which sees a RM1,124 to RM1,624 price reduction, lowering the base model’s price tag to RM33,456. The Myvi, on the other hand, gets slightly higher discounts ranging from RM1,498 to RM1,893. Thanks to this, the Myvi now starts at RM41,292.

If you want a bigger car, there’s the Alza. It is between RM1,546 to RM2,165 more affordable now, bringing down the starting price to RM49,944.

Not surprisingly, out of all Perodua models, the Aruz gets the biggest price cut from the SST exemption. The 1.5 X model currently costs only RM68,526 – RM4,374 off the original price – while the range-topping 1.5 Advance is going for RM73,226 now; that’s RM4,674 worth of savings. The full list of price changes can be seen on Paultan.

Do note that these new prices for Perodua models will only be applicable from 15 June onwards until 31 December; that’s the time period set out by the government for the SST exemption. But if you do decide to purchase any Perodua model before the new prices are in effect, the carmaker will offer the same amount of savings in cash rebate.

“Perodua will offer cash rebates between 3% and 6% for the purchase of our vehicles beginning today (Wednesday),” said the CEO of Perodua, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad. “We want everyone to take this opportunity to own a Perodua without worrying about being left out. Please visit any Perodua sales outlet and speak to our authorised sales advisors for the total cash rebate amounts and the full price list that will be effective 15 June,” he added.

It’s worth mentioning that Perodua is the first carmaker to reveal its new price structure in line with the government’s PENJANA initiative. We expect other brands to follow suit in the coming weeks.
