Realme just unveiled its very first smartwatch in India, aptly called the Realme Watch. Just like most products from the Chinese company, this smartwatch carries a very competitive price tag while offering a number of useful features. On top of that, this wearable will be launching in Malaysia as well.

In fact, the Realme Watch was actually registered with our local certification body, SIRIM, back in April last month; it was listed under Jie Communication with the model number RMA161. Now that it has already been approved by SIRIM – and given Realme’s strong presence here in Malaysia – we expect the smartwatch to make its local debut very soon.

As for the Realme Watch itself, it’s quite a feature-packed smartwatch, especially at this price point. It has a square case with a 1.4-inch 320 x 320 touch-enabled display, sporting 10 levels of brightness that peak at 380 nits. The panel technology itelf isn’t mentioned, though we reckon it’s an LCD screen given the affordable price tag of the wearable.

Just like other smartwatches in the market now, notifications from a paired smartphone are pushed accordingly to the Realme Watch. Among the apps that the Watch support for notifications include Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and Gmail. It remains to be seen if the smartwatch can also show notifications from apps that are not mentioned by the company.

Of course, the Realme Watch is also able to track your workouts; 14 of them, in fact. These include outdoor run, badminton, basketball, yoga, and even strength training. The Watch will also show your heart rate throughout the workout, along with the duration and distance (for applicable workouts) you have covered.

In terms of battery life, the Realme Watch’s 160mAh battery is said to offer up to nine days of use with the heart rate sensor disabled; enabling the feature will bring it down to seven days, which is still very respectable. According to Realme, the battery life can be stretched up to 20 days in power saving mode.

Other specifications of the Realme Watch include IP68 water and dust resistance, a heart rate sensor, the ability to measure blood oxygen level, and 12 built-in watchfaces. If that doesn’t sound like much, worry not: Realme says that it is planning to add 100 new watchfaces in the future.

The Realme Watch will be available for purchase in India from 5 June onwards. As mentioned, it’s an affordable smartwatch, retailing at only 3,999 Indian rupee – that comes up to about RM230. If the Watch is sold at this price point once it’s launched in Malaysia, we reckon it will be quite well-received.
